Before I recorded the song Baby Boy, I cried in a way that I rarely have to cry and it wasn’t bitter crying, I wasn’t ashamed either, I was simply able to allow it fully and completely and yes, it flushed out a lot of pain and doubts. At that moment, I was totally able to connect with my inner baby boy, with my former self as a child. The first moment I felt alone or lonely as a child, I was able to develop such compassion for myself, which is something I think I often don’t allow myself. I was standing in front of the studio in Berlin and such a strong energy was released in me, I had to record “Baby Boy”.
